Libanon, Beirut 1991 -1992

Already 17 years ago we went to visit family in Beirut, Lebanon.
The civil war had just finished leaving many people killed or injured and many buildings destroyed or badly damaged.
I stayed in the quarter called Furn El Cheback. One day I decided to walk all the way to the Place des Martyres (Place des Canons.
During that walk I made many, many pictures. These pictures now tell the story how bad Beirut was damaged. I have composed a video clip using music of the famous Lebanese singer Fayruz and placed it on YouTube
Now the years have passed and Beirut has been completely rebuilt, we have decided to visit Lebanon once more.
We will be visiting old friends and the places that we fell in love with. Places like the Cedar Valley, Byblos (Jbail), Ba'albek, and of course Beirut! Beirut, the city that never surrenders .....

This is my clip

Dale Watson In Newland and Pardiso

Dale Watson in Holland
April and May 2009 Dale Watson played a couple of times in Holland
May 6 and 7 Dale Watson played at Newland (Klaaswaal, Netherlands) and Paradiso (Amsterdam Netherlands) and that was when I went the see him and his Lone Stars. The band has been changed quite a bit. Only Gene and Don Don remain of the Lone Stars that were here in 2007. Don Raby (5-string fiddle) and Herb Belowsky (drums) have left the band. The new drummer is Davis Bowens.
Both concerts were really good, even as Gene was ill. As it turned out he had a double pneumonia!
In the last mail I received from his wife I was informed he is well again!
