Dale Watson in The Broken Spoke
Dale Watson in The Broken Spoke

Now Austin has some famous music and dancing halls, but one of the more famous must be ‘The broken Spoke' on 3201, South Lamar , Austin.
Every show the owner James M. White will welcome not only all the visitors, but he will sing along with the band. So far (I was there twice) he will sing ACT NATURALLY (song made famous worldwide by Ringo Starr of The Beatles, but before him Buck Owens made it a # 1 hit).
The evening with Dale Watson and The Lone Stars was ( as always) a great treat to me! I enjoyed every song they played. This evening there were 2 ‘happy Birthdays’ to be sang and one was for Dale’s road manager Hawk. His special birthday gift was the appearance of a real young singer carrying the wonderful name of Ruby Jane (see pictures below).
She has been wanting to play with Dale for ages and has been writing him on his MySpace like a million times.
So this was her big event and she played on Don Raby’s 5 string fiddle and even made Dale stand out one song and borrow her his guitar.
For the last few weeks people have wanting to see me dance, but I was able to duck that all the time, but today Gene Kurtz’s lovely wife Dell, forced my arm and made me dance with her.
Again the evening with Dale Watson and the Lone Stars was an event not to forget.
Pictures of Ruby Jane.
